A Cabin in the Woods and A Giveaway Winner

This past weekend we went with our family to Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  This is what welcomed us as we entered our cabin.

The owners had the mantle and the deer decorated for Halloween.  What a great weekend!  I'll share more photos with you in the next post of all the beautiful scenery.

Before I forget though, I want to announce the winner of my print giveaway.  Two ladies came so very close to getting all the differences between the two prints, but the winner is Susie.
The only thing you left out were the extra leaves that were scattered on the two large houses.  Susie please leave me a comment with your email or email me with your address.

Snowman Print Giveaway Winner and Spring Garden

Two choices really stood out for me in this print "giveaway", but there can only be one winner as my husband says.  Letting everyone be valedictorian because we don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, isn't right.  So, our valedictorian and winner of the "Name this Snowman Print Giveaway" is Tanna at The Brick Street Bungalow.  Stop by and congratulate Tanna and enjoy her beautiful home and knitted creations.  The new title is "Chimney Smoke & Cheery Snow Folk"!  Thanks Tanna, I love it!

We've had so much spring rain that our roses have bloomed their little hearts out.

Our hearts and prayers go out to all the people in the midwest who have suffered loss of family members, homes, and those who were injured during the tornados.

Snowman Print Giveaway

It's finally finished!
I won't be selling the original until sometime in the fall and will announce that on my blog.

Put on your thinking caps and help me come up with a title for this new snowman painting.  Leave your title in a comment on this post and the lucky winner with the best creative title will receive an 8 x 10 inch print of this winter scene.  If I don't receive a title that works, I will simply draw names to decide the winner.  You have until Friday evening at midnight central time to enter.
Good Luck!

Two more houses are being added in the front between the snowmen.  I'm working on them right now, but wanted to give you another sneak peek.
I will be having a "giveaway" as soon as I finish this painting.  An 8" x 10" print will be given to the reader with the best title for this painting.

Gifts From Russia

Look what came in the mail all the way from Russia.  Nika was the winner of a little cupcake painting in one of my "Giveaways".  She and her two little daughters, Polina and Lily are big cupcake fans and I was so honored to send my paintings all the way to them in Russia.  You can see her two girls with the painting on their blog Craft for Christ Glory.

Nika told me they would be sending a little cross stitch cupcake that they at made, and I was also surprized to open the package and see this lovely apron too.  I will be wearing this apron with the beautiful Russian dolls and thinking of those sweet little smiling faces of Polina and Lily when I make my next batch of cupcakes.

The cross stitch cupcake is adorable and thanks for the little treat too!  Chocolate is my favorite!  My son brought me home chocolate a few years ago when he went to Russia.

Thanks Nika, Polina, and Lily,
From your far away friend in the USA!

Giveaway Winner from Russia

The blog winner from my last giveaway, as mentioned in a previous post, was a reader from Russia, Nika Aksutin.  Nika wrote to me telling me how much her daughters love cupcakes and how happy they were when the cupcake painting arrived.  She also shared these photos of her daughters, Lily and Polina, with their little painting.  They are so adorable!  What sweet little smiles....

You can visit their blog Craft for Christ Glory to see some of their other favorite cupcake items.

They are mailing a little cupcake cross stitch that they made for me and I'm so excitedWhat a sweet family!

I would share some first day of spring photos, but it's been raining for 3 days now.  It's a much needed rain though.  I'm hoping my grass seed will come up this time since this is the third try.  Any advice anyone?

Give Away Winner & DIY Project

The winner of the Valentine Cupcake Painting is Nika from Russia.  Nika and her family have a wonderful ministry for the people there and she writes about it in her blog.  Stop in and congratulate her.

For a while now we have been putting up with a leaky faucet in our kitchen and my husband had tried everything to fix it, but to no avail, it was time for a new faucet.  We made a trip to Lowe's this weekend and came back with what I'm trying to tell myself looks like an old pump.  I didn't want something too modern looking in my kitchen.    DIY projects always lead to everything looking like a mess until it's finished.  It also had me throwing out a lot of stuff from under the sink.

Notice the Hot Pink wall under the sink.  Someone down the line who lived here before us must have loved the color pink. I've mentioned replacing our pink countertops several times.  The problem is, when you own an old house, things come up like wiring, plumbing, furnace noises that sound like ghosts howling, and on and on.  Therefore, the things that are noticeable to the eye like countertops, new wood on entry stairs, remodeling the kitchen and bath are put to the back of the list.  However, paint is cheap and I am planning on painting those cabinets very soon.

I'm pretty happy with that new faucet!  It's actually something noticeable.

What home improvement projects have you been doing?

Today is my daughter, Amber's birthday.  I made these slippers for her and decided to make an extra pair for myself.  I just love these colors!

Here's Amber trying them on for size and photographing them from her phone.

I think I'll have to make these in several colors.
Happy Birthday Amber!!
Why don't we all surprise her and stop in at Hoot 'n Annie and wish her a great day.

As mentioned in the last comment, Sunday was the 5th and not the 8th, so I am closing the comments and announcing the winner in the next post.  I would like to get it in the mail quickly so the winner can hopefully receive it before Valentine's Day.  Sorry for the mix up.

Cupcake Print Giveaway! Name that cupcake painting!

Did I hear someone ask what's on my art table today?  Below is the cupcake painting I'm currently working on.  The colors may look like a design disaster, but I'm pretty calm that all will turn out well.   I will share the finished piece on my next blog post and will let you know when the painting will be listed on eBay.  Just for fun though, I thought I'd have you leave your comments letting me know what you think the title of this little painting will be.  I've already got the name in my head and I'm going to give away a free print of this design to the lucky winner.  Keep in mind that's a free PRINT, not a free painting.  If more than one person guesses the correct name of this painting, I will have a drawing to choose the winner.  You will have until Sunday at midnight April 30th to leave me your answer.  You must leave your answer in the comments here and not on Facebook.  Facebook has rules about giveaways that I didn't realize.  You can guess as many times as you wish through the 30th.  If no one gets the correct answer, I will put all the names in a pot and draw a winner.  If you share my giveaway on your blog (along with a link for the giveaway) you get another chance if you come back here leaving another comment telling me.

This lap desk is also on my paint table waiting for touch ups.  I've decided to let some of my older pieces go and will let you know when these items are for sell too.

Name that cupcake!  You could be a winner!

Christmas Decorations and Cupcake Coaster Giveaway Winner

The winner of my Cupcake Coaster Giveaway is Stephanie Nesmith.  Congratulations Stephanie!

I have a couple more things I'd like to share that I used when decorating my kitchen for Christmas this year.  I made these fabric yo-yo's in one of our craft night sessions and put them together to form a garland.  This is a very easy project!

These little cross stitched snowmen were purchased on Etsy.

This is my white fairy tree in my dining room....

I have one of these on each side of my front door.  They are made with glass garden gazing balls in a flower pot with ribbon and evergreen.

A little evergreen and ornaments hang from a chandlier.....

This cinnamon lamb was purchased on eBay a few years ago.....

I have a collection of these stained glass type ornaments.....

I'll share more decorations each day this week.
Have a very joyous Christmas!
Hugs,
Catherine

My favorite red skates that I use for bookends....

Baking supplies are always easy to get to when I'm  ready to whip up a batch of cookies.....

I like to add touches of red and green everywhere....

One of my favorite flea market finds is this old Self Service gas station sign that hangs above my kitchen sink....

Giveaway Winner!

Just a quick note to let you know that the winner of the giveaway "Mocha Cupcake Painting" is Heather #46.  Please visit her at her blog "Audrey Eclectic".  Heather is also an artist and I'm sure you will love her artwork.  I've been taking weekends away from the computer so that is why I haven't posted this information until today.  Congratulations Heather!   I promise to be back soon with a new update, but for now I'm finishing up my final commission piece.  I've decided to stop taking commission work and to start painting what's swirling around in my head.  I long to sit and paint the scenes I used to do during the holiday seasons.  My hands are itching to get started.  Enjoy this nice cooler weather!

We'll Miss You Eric

I'm a little down in the dumps because we took our son, Eric, to the airport.  He is returning to Spain to teach for another school year.  Eric teaches conversational English to grade school students and he loves it.  You can follow his blog here where he journals about his adventures.
I took this photo of our daughter,Amber and Eric last night.  We fixed a big dinner so he could enjoy one more really nice American meal before he returned to Spain.  I also made him pumpkin pie since he won't be here for Thanksgiving or Christmas again this year.  Believe it or not, he and his friend Cody, made a really nice Thankgiving dinner for their friends in Spain last year.  They had to special order a turkey and were asked by the butcher if they wanted the head cut off.
We wish you another fantastic fun filled year Eric!  God Bless!!

If you haven't already signed up for my giveaway, check out my previous post and make sure to follow the directions.  You must leave your comment on that post and leave me an email address if you don't have a blog.  I've been asked where to put the email address and you simply put it in with your comment.  I must have a way to contact the winner.  Thanks everyone for all the sweet comments and for following my blog!
