Dragonfly Cottage Folk Art Painting

This past week after reading one of my favorite blogs, "The Inspired Room", I got "inspired" by one of Melissa's photographs that she took while driving through a neighborhood. Please stop by Melissa's blog and browse for a while. You'll get more ideas for your home and you'll want to return again and again! I've painted many houses over the years from photographs that I've taken while traveling around the country. This is a great way to build up a file of things to paint and believe me, I have a lot of files on houses. She gave me permission to use her photo of this cottage to do this painting that I listed on eBay this evening.

Loving couple, Alice and Joe, built this little cottage using their unique artistic abilities. Alice, an artist and gardener, loves bold color and painted the front door and the trim purple, much to the astonishment of her neighbors. Joe, works with metal and designed the brass dragonfly downspout for the house. Now, the neighbors are their biggest supporters of their artwork!

There really is a brass dragonfly on the downspout in the photograph. So, don't forget to check out Melissa's blog to see the photograph of the real house. She's a real sweet, talented lady and would love for you to stop by!
