Christmas 2020

Christmas this year is going to be difficult for a lot of people including our family.  My mom was moved to isolation due to Covid in the nursing home at the end of October with several other residents.  She was in isolation for several days.  It was a very difficult time especially since the nursing home has been shut down since March.  Once she got out of isolation she was extremely weak.  We got a call on November 18th and our family made the decision to bring her home.  My sister, husband, and I became her caregivers along with a great hospice team.  I so desperately wanted to get the Christmas tree put up for her but that was not to be.  She passed surrounded by her family on December 1st.  We are so blessed to have spent her final days with her, loving on her and feeding her sweets to her hearts content.  She was so very happy to be with us and now she's spending Christmas with so many other family members including my Dad and my brother Joe.  She was 1 of 14 children so there's a huge reunion going on in her heavenly home.

Wishing each and everyone of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

  1. Oh...Cathy, I am so sorry. I am very glad she got to be with all of you. This year....she is spending Christmas with Jesus. What a meal, eh? again. I am so very sorry for your loss. I know how hard this is. I lost my Mom, my best friend, in 1989. It is like losing your right arm, as they've always been there. I think it is the hardest thing we have to go through....ever. She'll be watching over you all. God Bless you all. You are blessed

  2. I am so sorry for your loss and glad she was able to come home to you and be surrounded by those that cared. We lost my precious mother in law this year and it's still sad. I hope you are able to enjoy a happy holiday. I look at your art that I am blessed to have....and think of living in some of those snowy scenes. holiday hugs!

  3. What love you showed your dear mother in bringing her home to care for her. Your words about that time are tender and inspiring. Though you know where she is and could never wish her back, there is a grieving process ahead. May you and your family be greatly comforted. And may the promise of why He came be powerful in your heart and mind. He loves us. He has come to rescue us. A blessed Christmas to you and yours.

  4. So very sorry for your loss but what a blessing for you all that you could spend that precious time with her. God bless you all.
