A Late Start to a New Year

I must apologize to my friends who have been trying to comment and have been unable to.  I made the mistake of linking my profile and comments to google+ not realizing that unless my readers use google+ they would not be able to comment and I could not moderate comments.  I now have resolved this problem and believe me it's never simple, but hope I haven't lost too many readers in the process.
Getting creative once again after the holidays and the loss of Grandma has been quite difficult as well.
I'm also moving into a new world of a gluten free diet.  My daughter, Amber has followed this diet successfully for several years and is encouraging me and helping me along.  Hopefully this will help my energy level.  Any tips or experience with a gluten free diet will be much appreciated.  Wish me luck because I'm definitely going to need it!

  1. Oh I am very interested to hear about your gluten free diet. My daughter was recently tested and she also needs to live gluten, soybean and high fructose corn syrup free. Those ingredients are in everything prepared so I am on a new cooking path.

    1. I'm so sorry you daughter's diet is so limited, but I seem to be seeing this more and more in the lives of friends and family. It sure makes me wonder what they are putting in our food. My husband's grandmother recently passed away at 103 and lived on a farm eating lots of butter, fried chicken, etc. She probably didn't eat much in the way of preservatives though and I think that's the main culprit.

  2. I went on a GF diet and my symptoms went away for about a year. I finally ended up going on the paleo diet and it has made a world of difference for me. Before I changed what I ate, I had many 'old age' symptoms. Things we take for granted as just happening to our bodies because we are getting old. Most of that went away when I gave up eating grains, and nightshade foods. It is a very restrictive diet but it is better than what I was going through. There are toxins in all grains, beans, and legumes that some people's bodies just can't handle. Take it one step at a time so that you do not get discouraged and just listen to your body when it doesn't feel well. It should tell you what it can, or cannot tolerate.
I hope it works out well for you.

  3. What a sweet little cottage. I eat a sugar free diet and feel so good but don't know much about the gluten free. Enjoy your weekend my friend! Hugs!

  5. I feel you pain in the loss of your Grandma, it's hard to loose someone you love. Good luck with your diet. I have no tips, I'm getting bigger by the day and I don't really care. Isn't that awful.

  6. Sweet little cottage where joy always dwells...

I have no tips about a gluten free diet other than to say that MGCC has some very good recipes. May it work very well for you.
